These have been handmade by myself, the flower on the front has been created from a floral sketch I drew, then cut from lino and printed onto each press by hand. So each press is completely unique.
I've personally found a lot of joy from slowing down and being more proactive with the mindful moments in my life. One of them was creating this mini flower press that I can bring on walks (and ultimately collect some unique pieces to add into my journals).
There are 30 mini presses available, I'm not sure if I will make anymore once they are all sold out. It was a time consuming process to put them together. But I wanted to be able to share them with the world in hopes that others can enjoy similar moments I've been able to enjoy, since making my own.
The addition of the clear pocket is so you can take just a couple of the blotting paper inserts with you on a walk, without taking the whole press, collect a couple of pieces of foliage, and store them safely until you get back home. Then transfer them into the press.
What's included:
- Two Wooden Pieces
- Eight Greyboard Inserts
- Six Folded Blotting Paper Inserts
- Four Black Bolts
- Four Black Wing Nuts
- Plastic Travel Pocket
- Brown Jute Bag
Materials: MDF Wooden Squares | 1mm GreyBoard Pieces | 300GSM Blotting Paper Pieces | Stainless Steel Wing Nuts | High Tensile Bolts | Jute Bag | PVC Plastic Pocket
Size: 60 x 60mm
How to use:
Find a flower/leaf/plant you would like to press. Pop it inside one of the blotting paper inserts. Sandwich these between two pieces of thicker greyboard inserts. Put the top of the press onto the bolts and screw the four wing nuts on.
Only screw the the wing nuts on tight enough to hold the contents of the press together so that nothing falls out. Don’t screw them too tight to begin with.
Blotting paper helps to draw out all the moisture in the plant. The plant may mark the paper pieces, but they can still be reused numerous times.
It should take a couple of weeks to completely press the plant of your choice. The thicker the plant (and more moisture it contains), the longer it will take. You may need to screw the wing nuts tighter as the days pass and the moisture is reduced.
If you don’t want to bring the whole press with you on a walk, just bring the plastic pocket and a couple of inserts with you. So you can safely collect plants and put them in the press when you get back.
Please note:
- Flower/plants are not included.
- Bolts will be slightly stiff when first placed into the MDF pieces. They will ease up over time.
